Abstract

"City" piece on the Maine Education Association's (MEA) annual elections, which will be held May 18-19. Some of the MEA's 26,000 members say their leaders have too much power, and members' voices are falling on deaf ears. A key concern is a lack of communication. Prudy Grant, an English teacher at Lisbon High School, is challenging Rob Walker in the race for MEA president. The office pays an annual salary of $80,000 plus benefits. Walker is currently vice president of the organization.
