Abstract
"City" piece on ugly green weeds, some three-feet high, that are overtaking the sidewalks on the east end of Portland's Federal Street near the base of Munjoy Hill and upsetting local business owners. Steven Earley of the city's Public Works Department, said spraying in that area has stopped in response to concerns by the activist group Portland Pesticide Watch (PPW). But John Eder of PPW said the city is supposed to find alternative, non-toxic means of killing weeds, not just pass the buck onto his group.
