Abstract
"City" piece on Maine Medical Center's McGeachey Hall in Portland, an outpatient mental health clinic, which has introduced new security measures in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Patients are complaining about the new system, saying it makes them feel more stigmatized. According to Dick Balser, administrative director for Outpatient Mental Health Services, about 1,900 primarily low-income children and adults get help at McGeachey.
