    Abstract

"North by East" piece on the unanimous vote by Clinton selectmen to investigate acquiring police cruisers from a North Carolina company that sells emergency vehicles for a dollar in return for allowing them to carry advertisements. Town Manager Keith Trefethen said the town would have considerable control over how the car would look, and would likely go with a conservative advertising design. Maine has a law that restricts police-connected solicitations.
