    Abstract

"North by East" piece on a trade link between Portland and Husavik, a small port on Iceland's coast. Portland-based Iceport Transport, Inc. founded by fishing boat operator James Finley, is shipping Maine oak logs to Iceland and Icelandic fish back to Portland. Iceland has cheap geothermal energy to operate a sawmill and dry the finished lumber. A sawmill was shipped from Maine to Iceland and is the country's first sawmill.
