Abstract

"North by East" piece noting the death of Helen Nearing, wife of the late Scott Nearing, who died in an automobile accident in September near her home in Harborside. Mrs. Nearing was ninety-one years old. She was most widely known as co-author with Scott Nearing of "Living the Good Life," an account of their 21 years on small Vermont farm where they lived before moving to Maine. Forest Farm, her Maine home, and the Nearings' foundation, the Good Life Center, will continue under the stewardship of the Trust for Public Lands, of Boston, through an agreement that she igned only days before her accident.
