Abstract

Thirty percent of the 32,000 motorcycles registered in Maine are Harley-Davidsons, the bike of choice for aging and relatively wealthy baby boomers. Steve Reynolds, owner of Big Moose Harley-Davidson in Portland, says business is steadily improving. There are five Harley Owners Groups (HOGS) in Maine, each attached to a dealership. The most adventurous riders journey to big-bike rallies in other states; but to most, Maine is HOG heaven.
