Abstract

Profile of painter Alex Katz, 78, of Lincolnville, whose oil paintings, acclaimed as masterpieces of figurative realism, hang in virtually every major public collection in the country. first came to Maine from New York City in 1949, and since 1954 has returned each year to a farm in Lincolnville. A major retrospective of his work, "Alex Katz in Maine," will be on display this summer at the Farnsworth Museum of Art in Rockland.
