Abstract

"The Talk of Maine" piece on the Aroostook County magazine, "Echoes," edited by Kathryn Olmstead of Caribou, who co-founded the journal in 1988 with Gordon Hammond. With a paid circulation of under 3,500 and help from volunteers and one paid staffer, the quarterly remains as humble as the rural traditions it honors. Many say it has instilled a sense of pride in Aroostook County residents.
