Abstract

"Focus on Banking and Finance" piece on private banking services, which are increasingly being offered by Maine's smaller community banks. Phil Jackson, senior vice president of Auburn-based Northeast Bank, created its new private banking group to provide his higher net-worth customers with more wealth management services. Jackson notes that the high level of competition in banking makes the high net-worth clients more important than ever. Over the last 10 years, community-based banks in the state have been targeting these customers with personal and customized investment and portfolio management, financial and retirement planning, estate planning, and trust services. With details of the private banking services offered by Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston, Bath Savings Institution in Bath, Camden National Bank in Camden, Northeast Savings in Auburn, Norway Savings in Norway and Union Trust in Ellsworth.
