    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Midcoast & Downeast" piece brief reporting that Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay has recently purchased 67 acres of land East Boothbay on which it plans to build a new facility that would double the lab's size. The $2.5 million land purchase end's the lab's five-year search to move from its cramped West Boothbay facility. Bigelow plans to build a 65,000-square-foot facility that would allow the lab to expand its marine science programs and potentially double the number of employees to 100, raising the payroll from $3 million to about $5.5 million.
