Abstract
"Focus on Energy" piece on Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.'s attempts to build a new electrical transmission line linking the Maine and New Brunswick power grids. The company's previous bid for a line drew opposition from environmental groups, led by the Natural Resources Council of Maine, and International Paper, a major landowner along the line's proposed route. Ray Robinson, COO of Bangor Hydro, says the company has proposed five potential routes for the line and invited conservation groups, area landowners and the public to offer their opinions on the merit of each in hopes of making the permitting process less contentious.
