Abstract

"Focus on Down East" piece with an interview with Hank Schmeizer, 61, of Somesville, president of the Ellsworth-based Maine Community Foundation (MCF), a public foundation to which he brings his legal and corporate expertise. Schmeizer discusses the structure of the foundation, which manages 700 individual philanthropic funds; improvements in business practices he has made at MCF; and the increased migration that he foresees coming to the area from Rockland up to beyond Ellsworth.
