Abstract

"Focus on Banking & Finance" piece taking stock of several publicly traded Maine companies, including TD Banknorth of Portland, which is in good shape after the merger of Banknorth and TD Bank; Fairchild Semiconductor of South Portland, which lost value in a volatile industry despite diversifying; and Wright Express of South Portland, whose recent IPO raised over $700 million for N.Y.-based Cendant Corp., from which it was spun off. With a look at five smaller banks: Camden National Corp., First National Lincoln, Merrill Merchants Bankshares, Bar Harbor Bankshares, and Northeast Bancorp; and three smaller companies: Maine & Maritimes Corp., Nyer Medical Group, and Immucell.
