Abstract
"Focus on Building & Real Estate" piece on how interest in the area at the base of Munjoy Hill has grown since Bath Iron Works vacated its dry dock facility and the city of Portland decided to site an international cruise ship and ferry terminal there. Projects in the works include Portland-based Riverwalk LLC's plans for a 50-room hotel, 70 upscale condominiums, possible retail space, and a 750-car parking garage; South Portland-based Liberty Companies' plan for a 150-room Westin Hotel and 100 high-end condos on the former Jordan Meats site; and Chicago-based Homestar Group's plan to build seven townhouse units on Federal St. Construction on the projects will start between June and this fall. With an update on Portland's delayed Ocean Gateway cruise ship terminal project.
