Abstract
"Focus on Tourism & Hospitality" piece on challenges faced by Maine's sporting camps, including the uncertainty of leasing land from multinational paper companies; the decline in the numbers of hunters, anglers, and campers; and a nationwide shift away from "roughing it." Several camp owners describe their experience, including Eric Stirling of West Branch Pond Camps; Igor and Karen Sikorsky of Bradford Camps on Munsungan Lake; and Matt Libby of Libby Camps in Ashland. With a look at how the Appalachian Mountain Club puts its stamp on Maine's sporting camps.
