Abstract

"Business Maine: Midcoast & Down East" piece reporting that a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture grant may accelerate plans to convert a former Navy base in Gouldsboro into an aquaculture business park. The USDA earlier this month gave a $73,516 grant to the Acadia Capital Group, an affiliate of Eastern Maine Development Corp.(EMDC), which is working to develop the Gulf of Maine Aquaculture Business Park with the town of Gouldsboro. John Holden, business development director for EMDC, said the park should attract up to 15 businesses involved in land-based commercial aquaculture fields like fish farming.
