Abstract

"Business Maine" piece on the decommissioning of the Brunswick Naval Air Station, set for completion in 2011. A federal grant will be used to provide job training to the some 300 civilian workers who will lose their jobs when the base closes. Closure of the air base and relocation of its squadrons to Jacksonville, FL, is expected to cost nearly $300 million, almost $107 million more than a 2005 estimate and more than the federal government expects to save on the closure.
