Abstract
"Capitol Update" piece on retiring Maine Public Utilities Commission chairman Jack Cashman, who says that though a common complaint at Gov. Paul LePage's "red tape audit" meetings has been the high cost of electricity, Maine benefits from the relatively low price of natural gas used to produce it. No lower cost options are on the near horizon, and hydro power facilities in Canada that can produce power cheaply still sell it at market rates.
