Abstract

Matthew Hodgkin, a 2015 University of Maine animal and veterinary sciences graduate with a minor in Innovative engineering, is the co-owner of a lobster-related business that explores ways to create products from lobster-processing waste, has helped develop of promising non-invasive method for testing whether lobsters can be shipped long distances, and is working on a way to commercialize currently unmarketable green crabs. He credits his mentor, Bob Bayer, executive director of the Lobster Institute, for steering him into the Innovative engineering program, which is designed to help solve real world problems. [image]
