Abstract
Maine's Paid Family and Medical Leave law, one of the most significant laws to affect the state economy in thirty years, will take effect in May 1, 2026. The new law (LD1964) will give employees the option of taking time off to attend to a serious health condition or a family member's or a domestic partner's health, the birth of a child, adoption, or fostering. The new law will also affect employers.
