Abstract

Corey Brown, the 12-year-old Lewiston girl who has spastic cerebral palsy and scoliosis, touched off a national debate over the quality of life for the disabled when the Lewiston School Board decided to honor her mother's request not to resuscitate the girl if she should go into cardiac arrest. The school board's decision on Monday to uphold the October 25 ruling prompted disabled-rights groups across the country to charge that Corey is the victim of discrimination, and they have vowed to challenge the ruling in court.
