Abstract

A report released recently to York County Jail officials recommends instituting constant suicide watches as the best way to keep suicidal inmates alive. Sheriff Michael E. Bemis says the idea sounds logical but is probably too expensive to implement. He feels that the Augusta Mental Health Institute should be expanded to accommodate suicidal inmates. Details.
