Abstract

TGI Friday, a popular Portland restaurant, yesterday served Thanksgiving dinners to the poor and homeless. The meal was cooked and served at tables by volunteers. The restaurant was closed to the general public for the day. The United Way for Greater Portland cosponsored the event, which was intended to make the needy feel more comfortable than they would have had the meal been served in a cafeteria-type setting.
