Abstract

Dr. Maxwell McCormack, a research professor of forest resources at the University of Maine at Orono, helped design a tree-breeding program for the Maine Christmas Tree Association. McCormack, using a self-designed tree-rating system, objectively evaluates trees for shape, health and growth rates, and is able to provide growers with superior stock that will grow well in Maine's climate.
