Abstract

Jerry Hinton, who became Brunswick's police chief ten months ago, has adopted a hands-on style that pleases some and makes others a bit uncomfortable. Hinton, 48, views himself as a consensus builder and a problem solver, and he has reached out to community and business leaders to learn of their concerns. Hinton has been particularly visible on three issues: overhauling downtown parking laws; a ban on hunting around the Mere Point peninsula; and community policing.
