Abstract

A steadily improving economy has resulted in an increase in state revenue sharing and automobile excise taxes. The actual surpluses in those two accounts that have many municipal officials optimistic about assembling their budgets. Excise taxes are running 13 percent ahead of last year, taxable sales are 7 to 8 percent higher that last year and income taxes appear to be rising as well. Details.
