Abstract

Twice as many Mainers died of AIDS in 1993 than in 1992, with the dramatic increase due to an expanded definition of AIDS that went into effect January 1, 1993. Forty-seven people died of AIDS last year and 159 new cases were reported, with 18 of those cases involving women. There have been 480 reported cases of AIDS in the state, including 221 who have died. Details.
