Abstract

Gov. McKernan yesterday announced a proposed program that would offer free job training to any company that plans to move to Maine or expand its operations in the state. The program, modeled after one in South Carolina, would create six Maine Quality Centers to provide the free training to businesses, with costs estimated at between $3 million and $5 million annually.
