Abstract

A new policy requires Medcu, Portland's ambulance service, to respond to all calls for medical help -- The policy, which replaces one which gave switchboard operators discretion in deciding whether police officers or Medcu technicians would answer calls, was instituted last week after the response to a January 14 911 call was questioned -- The January 14 call, which involved a woman who had collapsed, was sent to a police dispatcher, and when police arrived at the scene the woman was dead -- Details
