Abstract

Bath city officials met with Gov McKernan yesterday to ask for help in dealing with the city's impending financial crisis, which was brought about by the recent state tax appeals board ruling that said the city owes Bath Iron Works about $6 million in overpaid taxes and interest -- The city asked the state to reconsider mandates regarding a wastewater treatment plant and a landfill, and to speed up a school subsidy increase resulting from the city's lower assessment
