Abstract

The state budget crisis has left the Maine court system without the means of paying nearly $1 million owed to about 700 court-appointed attorneys who have represented the poor -- The state is nearly three months in arrears and the attorneys are complaining of personal hardships -- The judiciary is $48 million short of what it needs to run the court system for the current fiscal year
