Abstract

The Portland City Council yesterday unanimously passed a measure that bans automobile traffic from most of Deering Oaks -- Under the plan, vehicles will be allowed to flow one way on the road that runs by the athletic fields and tennis courts, and three-hour parking will be permitted along one side of that road between 7 AM and 8 PM -- The new plan, adopted in part because councilors don't want baseball fans to use the park as a parking lot, will be reviewed in one year -- Details, related article
