Abstract

Central Maine Power Co (CMP), independent power producers and a group of 10 large industrial consumers yesterday unveiled a plan that would have CMP and Bangor Hydro-Electric Corp buy out their contracts with independent power producers using state-backed loans -- Under the deal, which would have to be approved by the Legislature, a $4 million Public Utilities Commission fine of CMP would be repealed, a PUC investigation into CMP would be cancelled and the proposed windfall profits bill would be withdrawn -- Details
