Abstract

State Department of Human Services Commissioner Jane Sheehan on Tuesday gave approval to Mid Coast Hospital's proposed new hospital at Cook's Corner in Brunswick, but required that the planned obstetrics unit be eliminated -- The original proposal to build a $42 million, 92-bed facility would be scaled down to a $398 million, 84 bed facility if Mid Coast agrees to eliminate the obstetrics unit -- The hospital had previously indicated it would not build the new facility without the obstetrics unit
