Abstract

State Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Commissioner Sue Davenport yesterday announced the creation of the Office of Deaf Services, which will follow the requirements of a new law spearheaded by the Deafness Focus Group. The new office will be headed by Meryl Troop, and will provide special services to Mainers who are deaf and retarded. The Deafness Focus Group is a new group that was formed to push for changes and develop a program for deaf and mentally retarded individuals.
