Abstract

State funding for local schools is set at $515 million for 1994-95, a decrease from the $5194 million allocated in 1993-94 and considerably below the recommended appropriation of $630,300,000 -- The state is returning to the original education funding formula, which ties aid to a muncipality's property values -- Under the formula, Portland, whose state valuation has dropped from $39 billion in 1992 to $33 billion in 1994, will receive a 71 percent increase in state aid this year -- Details, comparison of current and recommended aid figures for Cumberland and York counties
