Abstract

The Maine Department of Transportation has rejected a petition from residents of Small's Brook Crossing in Cumberland to silence train whistles at night -- The residents said that trains approaching the Tuttle Road crossing were blowing their whistles at night and disturbing the peace, but the MDOT said that the crossing was not busy enough to warrant a gate and would be too dangerous without the whistles
