Abstract

The final deer kill tally for the 1993 hunting season was 27,402, with 692 deer taken during the archery season, 112 during the muzzle-loading season and 26,608 during the regular season. The number of bear taken during the 1993 season was 2,055, a 13 percent increase over the previous year. The state estimated the deer herd to be at 235,000, and the bear population at between 20,000 and 21,000. Both figures refer to populations after the hunting season was finished.
