Abstract

The Finance Authority of Maine and Apparel Management Group, the lead investor for Biddeford clothing manufacturer John Roberts, yesterday agreed to a plan that assures $80,000 in back pay to the 135 employees sent home August 11 when the plant could not make its payroll. The plan, which is expected to go before a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge this morning for approval, calls for the plant to reopen for eight days so one-third of the workforce can complete orders for sportcoats already in production.
