Abstract

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court yesterday ruled that Kenneth Waldo Emerson, who claims to be a descendant of Ralph Waldo Emerson, must clean up the unlicensed junkyard that he operates on his 17-acre lot in Pownal. Emerson must also pay a $2,500 fine and the town of Pownal's legal fees of $1,500. He will be subject to additional fines of $100 per day if he fails to clean up the property by a specific date.
