Abstract

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court yesterday ruled that cameras and microphones will be allowed in Maine courts, but only during arraignments and sentencing, proceedings in which witnesses do not testify. It also ruled that a trial judge may bar the use of cameras during all or part of any court proceeding. The new rules are more restrictive than those in effect during the two-year trial with courtroom cameras. Details.
