Abstract

Marc Yvan Lariviere has set out around 38,000 taps on the maple trees he taps in Big Six Township along the border with Quebec, and expects to produce 10,000 gallons of syrup this year. Lariviere and other Quebec residents like him have been crossing the border to tap Maine maple trees for more than a century. Maine recently rose to third place, behind Vermont and New York, in the nation in maple syrup production. Details, list of sugar houses.
