Abstract

Diane Cowan, an assistant professor of biology at Bates College in Lewiston, has a gynandromorphic lobster living in a tank in Bates' science building. The lobster, which looks perfectly normal, has a female left side and a male right side. Cowan is trying to learn more about the odd lobsters, particularly why there have been more of them reported in recent years than previously. Details.
