Abstract

The University of Maine at Orono yesterday named Walter H. Abbott, 57, an associate professor of physical education and former football coach, as acting director of the school's athletic department. The university is searching for a replacement for Mike Ploszek, who resigned April 1 after six weeks of problems concerning athletic-eligibility violations. Details.
