Abstract

Peter N. Connell, a 20-year veteran of the manufactured housing industry who in 1992 became president of Oxford Homes, last summer parlayed a $160,000 investment into a $1.6 million buyout of the company, which is the largest modular home manufacturer in the state. The company, one of the Oxford area's biggest employers, is now scrambling to reorganize its finances under a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, and court papers say the leveraged buyout rendered the company insolvent from the beginning.
