Abstract

A Lincoln County Superior Court jury yesterday deliberated just 2 1/2 hours before finding Virgil Smith, 19, of Portland, guilty of arson and four counts of murder. Smith was acquitted of two counts of attempted murder. The charges stemmed from the December 3, 1992, fire at 215 Congress Street in Portland, in which four people died.
