Abstract

A literature and writing program, developed by the YWCA and funded by the Maine Humanities Council, is aimed at women who live in the YWCA's homeless shelter or extended-stay shelter. The program is designed to foster self-esteem and personal growth through writing and literature. The class is taught by Dianne Benedict and Betsy Scholl, both writers on the University of Southern Maine faculty.
