Abstract

The Cape Elizabeth School Board is considering converting the town's three schools from oil heat to natural gas, which could result in savings of $34,000 because underground oil storage tanks would not have to be replaced. Some residents, recalling the 1990 natural gas explosion that destroyed a Cottage Farms Road house, reacted with emotion to the proposal, but the board indicated that there is general support for the conversion.
