Abstract
Maine's Cambodian Buddist's began their New Year's observance last night and will continue it this morning and tonight. Although celebrants usually devote three days to the New Year holiday, the observance has been limited because the longer observance is not practical in the American setting. A Cambodian monk from Lowell, Mass., will visit the Cambodian temple on Dedham Street in Portland and chant from the ancient Buddist texts. He will also bless food brought by the families.
